Job Title: Responsible Driver Program Group Facilitator

Location: Province-wide – both in person and/or virtual – including but not limited to Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Chilliwack, Saanich, Nanaimo, Campbell River, Cranbrook, Golden, Nelson, Penticton, Vernon, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Fort St. John, Prince George, and Prince Rupert.

Position Description:

The Responsible Driver Program (RDP) is BC’s mandated education program for individuals convicted of impaired driving. As a facilitator, you will be responsible for assessment, facilitating standardized psycho-educational workshops, and providing follow-up. The program focuses on the effects of alcohol and other drugs, providing tools for better decision-making regarding driving after substance use.

Job Summary:

We are seeking dedicated and engaging instructors across the province to offer both in-person and/or virtual service delivery.

Facilitators are hired on a contract basis and offered work based on client demand, availability, and flexibility. The need for facilitators varies depending on client registration and demand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening Participants: Conduct in-person or remote screenings to determine appropriate workshop placement.
  • Program Facilitation: Lead in-person or virtual instructional sessions following the RDP curriculum.
    • Level 1 workshop: 8 hours
    • Level 2 workshop: 16 hours
  • Follow-up: Conduct scheduled follow-up interviews six months after workshop completion.
  • Participant Engagement: Create a supportive and non-judgmental learning environment to foster positive behavioral changes.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Use interactive teaching methods, including group discussions, case studies, and real-life scenarios.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate attendance records and program documentation as required.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to contractor requirements and best practices in driver rehabilitation and road safety education.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum of a post-secondary diploma in a human services discipline with addiction-specific training and experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, or certification as an addictions counselor, is preferred.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in mental health and addiction education or counseling.
  • Group facilitation experience.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and understanding toward individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage group dynamics and handle challenging conversations constructively.
  • Adept at public speaking and structured presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with technology, including virtual teaching platforms.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
  • Travel may be required for in-person sessions at multiple locations.

Compensation:

  • Based on the number of program participants.
  • Payment increments include screening, workshop facilitation, and follow-up.
